Thousands Demand Justice for Freddie Gray in Baltimore March

At least 2,000 people marched to the Baltimore City Hall on Saturday to protest the death of yet another unarmed Black man, victim to racist police brutality. Freddie Gray died at the age of 25 a week after his spinal chord was fractured while in police custody and police refused to grant him medical attention. As night fell, about a hundred protesters splintered from the group and threw bottles, metal barricades and other objects at police officers and their cruisers. Twelve people were arrested. Freddie’s twin sister Federica Gray joined Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake at a news conference where she urged people to keep calm. The Gray family lawyer called for a swift, transparent investigation, noting that the longer the investigation is drawn out, the more people will regard this as yet another cover-up of police murder. teleSUR
