Tokyo taxi driver mugged at knifepoint by a customer who takes his money and phone

Last week in Tokyo’s Toshima district a taxi driver was mugged by his customer at knife point.

It was early in the morning when the driver picked up the client, a young man, just outside of the subway station.

About midway through the driver the young man pulled a knife and held it to the driver’s throat. He demanded that the driver leave the cash and his cellphone in the car and get out.

The mugger then drove off with the cabbie’s car. The vehicle was later located in an empty parking lot.

Police are still investigating the hijacking.
