China-Myanmar border: Myanmar bomb kills four farmers in Yunnan province

China has lodged diplomatic protests after a bomb fell from a Myanmar warplane killed four people in China on Friday.

The bomb struck a sugarcane field near the city of Lincang, in China’s Yunnan province on Friday afternoon, Xinhua News reported. Four farmers were killed and nine others were injured.

Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin summoned Myanmar ambassador Thit Linn Ohn in Beijing on Friday evening. Liu condemned the incident and urged Myanmar to thoroughly investigate the bombing, Xinhua News reported.

China has also sent fighter jets to patrol over the China-Myanmar border after the incident.
