UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is set to depart for Japan to attend an international symposium in Tokyo, next Monday.
The event will be hosted by Japan and the United Nations University to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the UN
All eyes are on whether the UN Chief will call on Tokyo to sincerely address its wartime history as he speaks alongside Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Ahead of the symposium, Ban is also scheduled to attend the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction which opens this Saturday in Sendai.
This will be Ban's fourth official trip to Japan after three consecutive annual visits from 2009.
