Turkey proposes tougher workplace safety rules

Safety is of particular concern in Turkey, where a workers' rights group said construction sites and mines are the most dangerous in Europe.

According to Turkey’s Workers Health Assembly, at least 1,886 people were killed in workplace accidents in 2014.

In response, the government has introduced new legislation with heavy fines and jail time for employers who allow accidents to happen.

Al Jazeera's Bernard Smith reports from Istanbul.
