Whale Found Under Ferry Terminal Likely Died After Being Struck By Propeller

A deceased gray whale was recently discovered under Seattle's Washington state ferry terminal. The whale's body was left floating on top of water between wooden structures.

Commuters and ferry workers were able to see the carcass and experience the unpleasant scent. According to a spokesperson from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, or NOAA, the female whale was probably dead for about a week before the remains were discovered on Wednesday.

Contractors who had to pull the whale out of the spot under the terminal reportedly had a tough time moving her through the pilings, however after some time and determined efforts they were successful.
