At least 15 killed in Ukraine shelling attack

Fresh shelling by pro-Russian separatists has been reported in government-held Mariupol in eastern Ukraine.

Local officials say fifteen people have been killed. But pro-Russian separatists denied targeting the city.

Mariupol lies on the edge of two rebel-controlled regions and on the Sea of Azov – a coastal route from the Russian border to Crimea which was annexed by Moscow last March.

Local police say many people were injured in the latest attacks with several fires caused by rockets hitting a multi-storey building.

Over the past two weeks, there’s been a surge in fighting between government forces and rebels with more than 250 people killed.
