Burgundy Street blues - George Lewis 1959

From a rcording in a jazz club in Germany comes this 1959 clip of George Lewis playing his most famous composition.
Other members from his original New Orleans Jazz Band are Joe Robichaux piano, Slow Drag Pavagau bass and Joe Watkins drums
I received this film from a German musician. This is quite a gem, especially considering the excellent picture quality

"Burgundy Street" was originally simply an improvised blues based on figures to be heard on the records of Louis Armstrong. Lewis was an enthusiastic admirer of Armstrong's music and collected his records (although Lewis's own jazz style remained solidly of the pre-Armstrong variety); the Armstrong Hot 5's "Savoy Blues" (credited to trombonist Kid Ory) is especially evident in "Burgundy Street"
