Bad weather cuts short AirAsia crash search

Bad weather is holding back the search for wreckage and bodies from the AirAsia plane crash.

Indonesia's search agency says divers were sent to investigate five large objects detected on the sea bed, but the trip was cut short.

(SOUNDBITE) (Bahasa Indonesia) HEAD OF NATIONAL SEARCH AND RESCUE AGENCY, FRANSISKUS BAMBANG SOELISTYO SAYING:

"They made the dive, but on the sea bed the visibility was zero, which means complete darkness, the sea bed was muddy. Also the underwater current is about three to five knots. With this kind of condition, the diving effort was temporarily suspended by the coordinator. They will try to use Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles instead."

At least 34 victims have been recovered from the Java sea, but officials warn that the search will get harder as the bodies sink underwater.
