Authorities begin investigation of abandoned migrant vessel

Investigators board the merchant ship "Ezadeen" -- to check its condition and find out if anyone is still on board.

This, a day after the boat was abandoned by its crew near the Italian coast -- while packed with migrants -- mostly from war-torn Syria.

It's the second time this has happened in less than a week -- as smugglers start using larger boats after Italy ended a mission to search for and rescue smaller boats.

Now, large, dilapidated boats like this one are being loaded to capacity with migrants and pointed at the coast...as the smugglers abandon ship.
