German hospital monitoring South Korean with possible Ebola infection

A German hospital admitting another possible case of Ebola -- this time it's Charite Hospital in Berlin

The patient is an unidentified South Korean health worker who was injured by a needle stick while treating a particularly ill patient in Sierra Leone -- one of the countries worst hit by the current epidemic.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) MEDICAL DIRECTOR OF CHARITE HOSPITAL, PROFESSOR DR ULRICH FREI, SAYING:

"This person was admitted to our isolation unit and will be now supervised with the question of whether or not the person will develop symptoms of Ebola or not. In this moment, there is no proven infection."

The transfer was arranged by the World Health Organization -- Charite having one of the best-equipped isolation units in Europe.

The patient will be closely monitored as long as the virus may be incubating -- which could be up to three weeks.
