LOLLEATA HOLLOWAY - LOVE SENSATION

It's a testament to the quality of the material Loleatta Holloway recorded for Salsoul in the late 1970s -- as well as the precision and power of her delivery -- that these tracks continue to be recycled, remixed and reused even today. "Hit And Run" ... "Love Sensation" ... "Run Away" ... and now "Dreamin'," which gets an update from the suddenly-hot Satoshi Tomiie. These mixes work extremely well because they don't stray too far from the original version; somehow, they manage to be retro and modern all at once. Also, Tomiie has wisely retained almost all of the original vocal and rap instead of slicing it up like so many other producers have done to Loleatta over the years. All in all, this is an excellent package with a sensational vocal performance and typically smooth Def Mix production.

Between 1998's "Shout To The Top" and this year's "Share My Joy," Loleatta Holloway has proved that she still has the chops and the power to blow 99 percent of the other dance divas off the planet.
