MH17 wreckage heads to Netherlands

Wreckage from Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 downed over eastern Ukraine in July crossed the border into Germany on Sunday (December 7) on its way to the Netherlands for investigation.

The trucks are carrying pieces of the plane to the Netherlands, but much of the wreckage still lies in Ukrainian fields.

The convoy reached the German-Polish border on Saturday (December 6) night but due to the driving-ban for all lorries in Germany on Sundays it could only cross the border into Germany hours before midnight and with a special permit.

The convoy is allowed to move only at night.

A Reuters camera team saw the four lorries driving along the German highway towards Dresden late on Sunday. The convoy is expected to turn north to reach the Dutch border.
