Dalai Lama attends 600th anniversary of Tibetan ritual

Tibetan throat-singing in Northern India, where exiled Tibetan spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, is presiding over a ceremony about a historical piece of Tibetan scripture.
He's here to mark 600 years since the writing of the "Great Tantric Commentary".
The event drew thousands of monks as well as Tibetan parliamentarians and ministers in-exile.
Tibet's Culture Minister-in-exile, Pema Chonjor, says the Dalai Lama talked about the importance of Buddhism in the contemporary world.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) TIBET'S RELIGION AND CULTURE MINISTER IN-EXILE, PEMA CHONJOR, SAYING:
"His Holiness spoke about the importance of Buddhism. Although there are many religions in the world, we cannot say that Buddhism is the best religion, but it's a very important religion. What Buddha taught was said 2,500 years ago, (it) is very much relevant in today's life."
The Dalai Lama has lived in India since fleeing a failed uprising against Chinese rule of his homeland in 1959
