The Lotus Formula 1 racing team has set a new world record by jumping a semi-truck and trailer over a speeding racecar.

The Lotus Formula 1 racing team believes they have set a new world record by jumping a semi-truck and trailer over a speeding racecar.

As an advertisement for EMC Corporation, technology partners for the Lotus F1 racing team, they sent the truck and trailer flying off a ramp 83 feet and seven inches through the air.

Professional stunt drivers Mike Ryan and Martin Ivanov, from several blockbuster action movies like the recent James Bond Films, the Jason Bourne trilogy, and the Fast and Furious series worked on planning and executing the stunt.

Ryan, who drove the truck is quoted as saying: "It's the one thing I have not done in a big rig... the one thing I haven't done is jump a big rig and trailer. It is one of my dream stunts."

The truck had a roll cage installed for safety, and anything that was flammable on the interior was removed prior to the stunt taking place.

According to one report, although the latest stunt may set a world record, an Australian stunt driver actually jumped a semi-truck even further in 2013.

Ash Nichols reportedly drove a Ford LTL over a hundred feet through the air, but for this stunt it was just the truck with no trailer attached.
