Today we’re welcoming a SPECIAL GUEST to our weekly Roundtable: Mike Falzone!
He’s adding his valuable opinion to our analysis of movie trailers, movie franchises… among other things.

So, this week saw the release of a trio of trailers for movies that are installments in larger series:

Insurgent (Sequel to Divergent; Prequel to Allegiant Part 1!): http://youtu.be/7Ql1T41Jw5U
There’s certainly a lot going on in this trailer, but most of it seems to consist of fire, and Shailene Woodley being a badass.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies: http://youtu.be/iVAgTiBrrDA
This movie Part 3 of the adaptation of one book, and is the conclusion of the prequel trilogy to The Lord of the Rings Movies. Which basically makes it Lord of the Rings Part Negative One. Right?

And Fifty Shades of Grey: http://youtu.be/6FDTMRK7-24
This movie is the first installment in a hopeful 3 (4?) part series, based on a series of novels which were adapted from Twilight Fanfic. So, this movie is Twilight Part 1i (HA! Math joke!)

All three trailers raise questions about the state of movie franchises, sequels, prequels, movie series… and, let’s be honest, kinky movie sex and porn.

What movie series is your favorite of all time? What did you think of these three trailers? Did you agree with our assessments of these movies? Do you think 50 Shades of Grey is going to bring back the adult movie (er… movies FOR adults) genre? What other topics would you like to see us cover in future roundtables?
