A man has been reunited with his wheelchair after it was stolen and posted for sale online. The owner of it, Richard Young, lives with cerebral palsy.

On September 7th, he had been making his way home in Chula Vista, California when he suffered from a seizure. A witness who called himself Joe offered to help.

The male dialed 911 and said he would take care of Yong’s ten thousand dollar motorized wheelchair while he received medical attention. Joe told Young that he lived in a nearby area and would return it to him when he was discharged from the hospital.

Young says the other man took the wheelchair off the sidewalk while he was in the ambulance. After Young was released from the hospital, weeks passed, and he never heard from the man he thought was a good Samaritan.

Chula Vista police later decided to share details of the case on social media and received a tip that the chair was likely on Craigslist. Detectives found the ad and contacted the seller, who had listed an asking price of 12 hundred dollars.

Cops met with the man, 26-year-old Joseph Marshall, and determined the chair is the one belonging to Young. Marshall was arrested for grand theft and possession of methamphetamine.

Young now has his wheelchair back and has expressed gratitude to those who helped make that happen.
