Spain Ebola victim's dog destroyed

Animal rights campaigners gathered outside the Madrid home of the nurse diagnosed with Ebola hoping to save her dog from destruction.

There were scuffles with police as a van carried the dog away.

Several of the protesters were injured but in the end it was all in vain.

The dog, Excalibur, was put to sleep because of fears the animal could pass the Ebola virus on to humans.

There were further protests outside the hospital where nurse Teresa Romero is being treated.

She'd been caring for two priests repatriated to Spain after contracting the disease in Africa.

Hospital workers are angry about the government's handling of the Ebola crisis.
