Matthew McConaughey Delivers Inspirational Speech To Football Players

We all have our favorites when it comes to inspirational speeches in movies. Actor Matthew McConaughey recently addressed Texas Longhorns players and it was something that could have easily landed in one of his films.

McConaughey ended up giving them a long pep talk despite his early promise that he would do no such thing. The actor made an appearance on the field as the Longhorns prepared to play against Kansas.
McConaughey questioned the crowd, inquiring why they practice in the heat day after day. He then referenced himself and his acting career, saying he pushes himself to do better with each film and still doesn’t believe he’s done his best work.
As part of his speech McConaughey remarked “I guess what I'm saying is you've got to ask yourself, 'Why are you playing the game?' And in there you're going find the answer of why you play it, whether you win or whether you lose.”
More than four minutes after McConaughey introduced himself to the players, he wrapped up his speech that no doubt, left the team members asking themselves how they can improve.
It also made it extremely clear that McConaughey is rooting for them.
