A miraculous case of survival was recently witnessed at a racing event in Colorado. On Saturday, a vintage car was involved in a serious crash at the Pikes Peak International Raceway.

Kelly Harvey was behind the wheel, taking part in the Colorado Street Outlaws event at the time of the wreck. The 1955 model Chevy barreled down the strip but somehow lost control.

It struck the car next to it and continuously flipped down the track. When the auto finally came to an upright stop, Harvey’s legs were seen sticking out the front windshield.

Miraculously, Harvey was able to quickly pull his legs back inside the car and within moments he climbed out the driver’s side door.

Reflecting on the ordeal, he remarked “Once the car started tumbling, it seemed like it took forever I just couldn't wait for it to stop. And I think that's why I popped out of the car so fast. I just wanted it to be over.”

Although Harvey wore a helmet during the race, he later realized his seatbelt wasn't mounted tightly enough. He also acknowledges the crash was his fault, saying he overcorrected to keep the car in the designated lane and that the Chevy isn't designed for racing.
