A man in Portland phoned in to alert authorities that there was a chicken trying to make its way across a street.

Well, police in Portland, Oregon recently heard a fresh take on the timeworn tale.
A man phoned in to alert authorities that there was indeed a chicken trying to make its way across a street.
"Highway 30 across from the lighthouse. Is it causing traffic problems? Yes its right, really trying to go into the middle of the road. Pretty ironic, but..Yeah its just one chicken? Its one chicken yeah. Ok, and you’re, is it, I mean are people almost crashing because of it or...? I had to slow down almost to a complete stop. Thanks for calling, we’ll let the area officers know." [Via Portland Police]

They also pointed out, “While ‘chicken crossing road’ jokes have been told for more than a century, animals in the roadway creating traffic hazards are no laughing matter.”
