Two Palestinians from one family killed in Israeli strike in Gaza

STORY: Renewed Israeli shelling of Gaza on Sunday (August 3) killed at least two Palestinians one day after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the military would go on fighting Hamas in the Strip.

Netanyahu said Hamas would pay an "intolerable price" if it continued to attack Israel.

In the Gazan city of Jabaliya residents said two people from one family had been killed in one of the early morning strikes that destroyed their home. Women and children were also wounded.

Relatives and neighbours buried the dead.

The Jabaliya victims, and at least 30 more in Rafah, pushed the Gaza death toll given by Palestinian officials to 1,708, most of them civilians. Israel confirmed 64 soldiers died in combat, while Palestinian shelling has also killed three civilians in Israel.
