Israel's military operation against the Islamist terror organisation Hamas in the Gaza Strip, has cost hundreds of lives so far. Civilians are dying every day in Gaza, while Hamas continues to fire rockets into Israel. Do the international mediation efforts still have a chance of success? Or will it ultimately be only the extremists and hardliners on either side who benefit from the blood-letting?
