South Korea’s team only scored one point throughout their brief World Cup appearance, and numerous fans made it clear how they felt about that.

The team was bombarded with toffee candies when they returned. In South Korea that’s a bad thing.

A popular saying in the country is ‘go eat a toffee’ which amounts to telling someone to get lost.

No doubt hopes and excitement were initially high, as the team had reached the round of 16 in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

In Brazil, however, they had great difficulties staying in the tournament.

The team played 3 games, scored only a single goal, and was sent packing early on.

Clearly, the letdown was more than many supporters could take.

The team’s coach was quite noble about the whole thing and spoke humbly with the Korea Herald.

He said, “I am sorry that we weren’t able to return the love and support shown by our people during the World Cup. It was due to my deficiency as a coach that we didn’t put up the desired results. But our players all have a bright future ahead and not everything was lost from this tournament.”
