It goes without saying that walking through or near construction work zones can be hazardous . In one disturbing incident, a woman in Manhattan was recently struck by an airborne buzzsaw.

The company which was hired to work for the city, had been attempting to fix a water main pipe. Staffers were ripping up a portion of the road when somehow the buzzsaw flew into the air.

What followed could only be descried as chaos. One man claimed he ducked down and felt the saw zoom right past his head.

Another pedestrian said he saw the blade separate from the machine and travel 100 feet in the air before striking a tree. It reportedly deflected and sliced into a woman’s leg.

The victim quickly fell to the ground. Police say she suffered from a gash to the leg but is not seriously injured.

The Department of Design and Construction is now investigating the incident to determine what went wrong.
