UK Teen Who Battled Cancer and Raised Funds for Charity Passes Away

A 19-year-old man in the United Kingdom who is responsible for warming hearts around the world and raising funds for cancer research has sadly passed away. Stephen Sutton's mother confirmed his death on Facebook.
A 19-year-old man in the United Kingdom who is responsible for warming hearts around the world and raising funds for cancer research has sadly passed away.
Stephen Sutton's mother confirmed his death on Facebook. Sutton was diagnosed in 2010 at age 15 with bowel cancer, and gained an online following after setting up his Facebook page in 2013 when he was told it was terminal.
He began raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Less a month before he passed on, Sutton took to his Facebook page to react to the news that he had surpassed his goal of raising 1 million British pounds for the charity.
In that post he commented "It's a final thumbs up from me! ... I will continue fighting for as long as I can, and whatever happens next I want you all to know I am currently in a good place mentally and at ease with the situation."
Donations continued to pour in after his post, soon surpassing the $5 million mark.
In addition to his dedication in raising money, Sutton also shared with the world his ‘bucket list’ before he died. Over the course of his four year long battle with cancer he was able to check off many of those wishes including sky diving, playing drums at Wembley and speaking to Parliament about his disease.
His mother said he ‘passed away peacefully in his sleep’ and made it known she’s so proud of her courageous, selfless son.
