CHINA - Chinese labour relations: Worker militancy spreads

China’s Guangdong province is often described as the world's factory, but labour unrest is on the rise there. Last month some 40,000 workers went on strike over pay and benefits, costing their company an estimated 20 million euros. The authorities eventually forced the workers to end the two-week strike, but dissatisfaction remains as Chinese workers become more aware of their rights.
