Welcome back to Dazzler Beauty! This is another Frequently Asked Question, this time we answer the question: What is the difference between natural hair and synthetic fiber?

We mentioned the two types of brushes in previous videos, but I will go into more detail in this one. In general, you want to use natural hair brushes for powder products and synthetic bristles for cream products.

The natural animal hair that is used for brushes can come from horse, goat and even squirrel. The different type of animal hair has a direct impact on the price and quality of the finished makeup brushes. Goat hair is usually more popular than other hair, and actually gets softer the more you use and wash it. These brushes are ideal for powder eye shadow and face powder because the product will not cling to the bristles, making it easier to blend.

Synthetic brushes are best suited for creams and liquids because the bristles blend the liquid product better than natural hair. Liquid and cream products cling to the bristles, which makes it easier to push into the skin and blend for a flawless finish. The brushes will get dirty a lot easier than natural hair. On the other hand, they are also easier to clean than the natural hair so be sure to keep them that way!

Cruelty-free collection practice is when the hair is collected from the top layer of the fur to be used in a manual brush assembling process. The lower cut of the hair is usually used in mass productions using machines. Our brushes are made from the top layer of the goat, so the animals are not harmed.

As with any beauty “rules”, it all comes down to your preference. Obviously if you find a natural hair brush that works for your liquid or cream products, stick with it. By no means do you have follow this video to the T!
