Off The Wall - Alice Aycock

Sculptor Alice Aycock has a storied history of public installations--her work is permanently on exhibit at public sites such as JFK and Dulles airports, as well as the MoMA and Whitney Museum--and this spring, her latest endeavor, Park Avenue Paper Chase, sits along a five-block stretch of Park Avenue in Midtown, Manhattan. Comprised of painted aluminum and fiberglass, the massive assemblages are reminiscent of the beauty and chaos of waves and wind, a visual metaphor for New York City itself. Here, Life + Times presents an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look of the installation of Park Avenue Paper Chase and sits with Alice as she reveals the immediate and long-held inspirations behind the structures.
