Family, actors mourn Philip Seymour Hoffman at private funeral

Family and close friends bid their final farewells for actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.

It was a star studded event with many of the world's top entertainers attending the funeral on Manhattan's upper East Side.

Cate Blanchett was visibly shaken as she climbed the stairs of the Church of St Ignatius Loyola with her husband.

Many of the actors at the service had worked with Hoffman.

Meryl Streep braved the cold with a long black scarf.

Michelle Williams lost her former partner, actor Heath Ledger, to an accidental drug overdose in 2008.

Hoffman's longtime partner Mimi O'Donnell and their three children gave one last look as his casket was placed inside the hearse.

Hoffman won an Academy Award for his role in the 2005 biographical film Capote.
