Curley the gangster wants to use Tesla's mind reading invention to win a big card game. He visits an electronic genius, Fat Zak, to get the telepathic artifact adjusted to fit into his jaw. As Zak adjusts the tooth Curly sees the ghost of a man who was murdered in the room.
"It's not working!" exclaims Curley. "It's all in Chinese or Korean." Curley sees Zak munching outlawed snacks and tries to wheedle Zak into a better price by threatening to turn him over to the Food Nazis. The thug demands a bargain and holds Zak's collectable Robot hostage.
Nicola Tesla built the brain-wave receiver to be pretty much self-contained in a tooth sized package. The receiver works like a detector in a shortwave radio and couples the signal into the user's brain by generating a closely tuned heterodyne wavelength.
This bit of science fiction is much closer to realization than we care to consider. At this very moment scientists are working feverishly to tap in to human brain waves that are very similar to radio waves. Governments are enacting laws to outlaw fattening foods in an effort to make us healthier.
