Disney's animated movie "Frozen," inspired by "The Snow Queen" fairytale, heated up the box office over the weekend with $31.6 million in U.S. and Canadian ticket sales.
The Washington Post said "Frozen may be a nod to the pleasures of vintage Disney and old fairy tales but there's nothing outdated about it."
Meanwhile, the dystopian thriller "Catching Fire: The Hunger Games" was still hot with moviegoers.
It pulled in $27 million in its second weekend in theaters, according to studio estimates.
NPR had this to predict about the second installment of the Hunger Games series: "The box-office odds continue to be, in that Hunger Games catchphrase, 'ever in its favor.'"
The film is one of this year's biggest hits.
