What Do Astronauts Eat for Thanksgiving in Space

Recently astronauts Rick Mastracchio and Mike Hopkins spoke about being in space this Thanksgiving. They also made known their plans for the holiday dinner.

During the thanksgiving time, people across America will celebrate by going to parades, having big family meals and watching football.

But what do you do when you are spending Thanksgiving on the International Space Station and you don't get a day off.

Being an astronaut is one profession where holiday planning becomes difficult. However, choices aren't as limited as you'd think.

Recently, astronauts Rick Mastracchio and Mike Hopkins, currently on assignment at the International Space Station talked about their thanksgiving meal plans.


That doesn't sound bad at all considering they'll having this meal while being 230 miles above the earth's surface and traveling at the average speed of 17 thousand 100 miles per hour.
