Recently, the city council in St. Cloud voted in favor of banning indoor furniture from being placed outside.

Indoor furniture as the category name suggests is meant to stay inside…at least if you live in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Recently, the city council voted in favor of banning indoor furniture, like couches and chairs from being placed outside.

The first time anyone is caught sitting on a sofa, enjoying the great outdoors, they will receive a warning. However if the furniture is not removed, they will be forced to pay $100.

According to a councilmember, he only wants to make the city more appealing to new home buyers and visitors. It was also brought up the upholstered couches could become home to families of rodents if left outside for extended periods of time. Old couches could even be the easy targets of arsonists.

Several areas in the city are overrun with college students. In these locations, it’s common witness couches on front yards. Many believe the ordinance is the result of too many people complaining about them being eyesores.

Residents will now be unable to keep any upholstered furniture on not only the grass, but porches, patios and anywhere else it could be visible by the public.
