Saudi Arabia is constructing a 1,000-mile long fence along the Yemen border in an effort to stem illicit activity coming from the neighboring country.

The fence will will extend from the Red Sea coast all the way to the east border with Oman. The announcement of Saudi Arabia's plan to build the fence comes amid increasing illicit activity coming from Yemen.

Saudi Arabia has built a similar fence along its Iraq border, pouring an estimated $12 billion for one nearly half the size of the proposed Yemen fence. A similar fence would include several modern components that includes motion sensing, manned patrols as well as large barbed fences.
