Giant rubber duck pops in Taoyuan following earthquake

The giant rubber duck in Taoyuan deflated after a power outage caused by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake. An attempt to pump air back into the inflatable duck failed as maintenance staff tried to reinflate it too quickly amid strong winds.

A back-up was called up from Kaohsiung to fill in for the flattened ducky for a future exhibition. Saddened by the incident, netizens have unleashed their creativity to pay tribute to the giant bathtub toy by designing a funeral hall for it.

After the duck is shipped from Kaohsiung, it will be placed at the square and become the first ever rubber duck art piece to be displayed on land.
