Don’t ever mess with anyone's love for a pig. Residents in Seal Beach, California recently made it very clear that they weren’t going to back down when it comes to the fate of one pot bellied pig named Bubba.

A town meeting was held on November 12th for city council members to make an official ruling on what would happen to the animal after complaints surfaced from neighbors of the pig’s owner, Madonna Grimsley.

The nearby dwellers voiced anger over Bubba's squealing and stench, but there were far more supporters of the pig at the meeting, many of whom were holding signs and protesting. The Seal Beach city council voted to add pigs to a long list of banned animals, however thanks to the many locals in favor of Grimsley and her pet, 235-pound Bubba was named as an exception.

Grimsley is currently suffering from stage 4 cancer and relies on her pig for support. At the meeting she heartbreakingly stated “Bubba holds a very dear part of my heart… It is heart enough fighting for my life and now I feel like I am fighting for my pig's life. Please, let me keep my pig.” In the end, she prevailed.
