The new iPhone designs from Apple Inc. might have a curved touchscreen with advanced sensors that can pick up different amounts of pressure.

Newer models of iPhones might also be equipped with slightly larger screens than their predecessors.

Advances in touchscreen technology are still being tested, and according to a source close to Apple that claims to have inside information on their product development, it will probably be used on later versions of the iPhone rather than the next one to be released.

Apple technology is trying to keep up with the South Korea based Samsung electronics company, which has already released smartphones with larger screens than the latest iPhone, and they also unveiled a curved touchscreen smartphone called the Galaxy Round.

Dennis Chan, an analyst from Yuanta Financial Holding Co. in Taipei, Taiwan said: “Screen size is one of the things where Apple has to catch up to the Android camp. Innovation in components has been a key for Apple since the first iPhone came out.”

But Apple seems to be falling behind since the first iPhone was released in 2007 using cutting edge touchscreen technology that was developed by TPK Holding Company in Taipei.
