According to the National Retail Federation, American folks will be spending $330 million on costumes for their furry friends.
Most animal owners treat their pets like royalty. With Halloween approaching, the market for pet costumes is booming, proving that not even dogs or cats are left out.
According to The National Retail Federation, Americans will be spending $330 million on costumes for their furry friends. That astounding figure pertains to just this year alone.
A spokeswoman for the chain store, Party City elaborated on the increasing popularity stating “We're seeing a lot of costumes based on popular-culture movies, like superheroes or pop stars like Katy Perry and Madonna. It's become a trend for people to dress the whole family in costumes, even the pets.”
A Denver based costume store owner said popular hits in his boutique included NFL-licensed Broncos jerseys along with other sports themed garments. Lion manes and monkey tails are also popular among Colorado pet owners.
Although the sales of animal costumes appear to be promising, spending forecast overall for Halloween isn't as bright.
Its predicted that Americans will spend $6.9 billion on Halloween this year for costumes, decorations and candy. That number is about $1 billion less than last year.
