Canadian Couple Sets Record for Longest Marriage

A Canadian couple sets a record for the longest marriage.

Clooney might reconsider if he talks to Arthur and Alice John who recently celebrated their 80th wedding anniversary.

According to Worldwide Marriage Encounter Canada, that may be a national record as theirs was the longest of all the couples nominated for the title in Canada.

The festivities to mark the occasion were held at a local school and attended by friends and family.

The Yukon pair had 11 children and 4 of them survive. Their daughter Dorothy said, “You know, he's been a good provider for us, and Mom taught us all the sewing and everything with the traditional lifestyle…“

Arthur was born in 1911 and Alice in 1917. Arthur was a fur trapper who also worked as a guide for the US army and delivered mail on a dogsled.

They’re going to have to keep the love alive a bit longer if they’d like to set a world record, though.

That honor goes to an American couple married back when the US was still a British colony. Their union endured for 91 years.
